Wendythethief (Click here for Past Performances)
ADOPTED!!!
Wendy is a six year old mare that ran in the Southern California circuit, moved up
to Northern California and then back down to Los Alamitos. Wendy ran her SoCal races in MWS for 50K,
meaning she was initially thought to be a very classy horse. She still has lots of class of course, but
not the desired speed to be a successful racer. Because she has come off track sound Wendy is a
perfect candidate for us to find her a new career in which she can excel and will enjoy.
Wendy is by one of California's leading and "hottest" sires, Unusual Heat and out of the dam Crimson Redemption (Red
Ransom). Neigh Savers is committed to transitioning horses out of Los Alamitos and has now connected
with one of the most successful trainers at Los Alamitos, Chuck Treece. We thank Mr. Treece for releasing
this sound maiden filly to us.
Wendythethief has a kind temperment and is well put together. She is at
least 16.2 hands and a dark brown/bay filly, carrying good weight and muscle. She was sound at the trot, last ran on the 4th of July (came in 5th),
and is simply not fast enough to be competitive. She has had 21 races and since she was not able to break her maiden
we assume she is a very smart filly that knew how to protect and take care of herself when she ran.
Kimberlee Farms Update:
This filly now joins our boys, Noah (Stone Cold Angel) and Idle No More in training. She is currently
being assessed, but as Wendy came off track sound we anticipate starting her quite soon and have very high hopes
for this gal. Whoever ultimately connects with this horse is getting a quality filly with a great future.
She trots straight, good conformation,
and is VERY sweet. She hates flies. As soon as I put her in the TO,
she laid down and sunbathed. She is a bit tenative, but wants affection.
Does not appear flighty, difficult, or hot. Everyone, including the vet likes her.
Dr. Stevens wants her to have the necessary R&R which was our plan as well.
Wendy is adjusting well to life at Kimberlee Farms. She has been put into a paddock
with a yearling who adores her. She is very kind to this juvenile but he does know who is
boss, however gently she may convey it. As Kim of Kimberlee Farms has said: "Nicole picked
out a really good one."
Update - November 2009
Wendy is now being started on a lunge line and will soon be trained under saddle. She is a remarkable mare and will make someone
a very special companion.
Update - March 2010
Wendy is being trained as a jumper at Kimberlee Farms but is available for adoption.

Update - November 2010
Wendy has been adopted by our extremely good friend and Bellingham, WA based veterinarian Dr. Cay and her barn buddies. We are so delighted to be
able to share this news and feel that Wendy couldn't have landed in a better dream home than the one she is going to. This new home seemed to have been written
to her very own specifications. It took us a long time to place Wendy and she was in the program for 16 months but patience paid off!
From Dr. Cay:
"Sandy and I are so happy that Wendy is coming to us, and soon is great! Have talked to Nicole about her a lot, and Sandy has some. Wendy will be a terrific ambassador for Neighsavers and OTTB in general. Her stall is ready, I have a lovely blue blanket for her (mid wt., may need a fleece cooler under it to start or a heavy wt). It is nippy up north just now. I am going through my tack to get her a nice bridle and the kind o bit she prefers. The whole barn is excited Karin, and we are going to have a Welcome Wemdy party. I will do my best to get and send pictures.

Update - December 2010
Message from Dr. Cay Gilbertson:
"Wendy is special. Betty is truly impressed with her. Sandy is over the Moon and I can't quit smiling. She looks great in her blue ribbon
colored snuggy blanket and it doesn't seem to bother her at all.
She does need some work in the apple appreciation area as she lives in Washington now:))) She spits them out so daintily.
Kris deserves some sort of superman stamina medal. That was a grueling drive!
Anyway, these are my less than perfect pics of Wendy's arrival, 20 minutes post. She immediately made friends with Karma, a horse who boards outside,
has a shelter, at her owners request.
I cannot thank you enough for trusting me with Wendy and being so flexible in arrangements with Sandy. She is so happy, and Betty is impressed, which says a lot.:))
Good Night,
Wendy's God Mother, Cay"
