Toro's Lady

Toro's Lady is a three year old bay unraced filly (born March 4, 2008). She is by Comic Strip out of the mare Frenzied (Cee's Tizzy).

Toro's Lady never made it to her first race. She was injured in training with minor tears in both her front tendons. She spent a considerable time at the farm rehabbing but after the former owners consulted with their veterinarian they decided that the rigors of racing would not suit this very big girl and they didn't want to take the risk. Thus she was donated to Neigh Savers.

Toro's Lady is currently being fostered and sponsored by Bear Creek Stables (Glenda) and manager Jenny as well as supporter Barbara.

Here is a report recently sent in by Jenny on Toro's Lady who arrived at Bear Creek Stables on January 20th. "For the last few days I've been leading Lady around to graze and to get familiar with her surroundings. Today, I brought her into the roundpen and eventually turned her loose. We played this game and we both had so much fun. Her spirit is like a delicate fairy and it flittered about joyfully but kept wanting to come back to me. I would ask her gently to move away and she would trot around a few times but quickly ask to come back. I brought her to our lower bigger arena and turned her loose again. She meandered a short distance from me but when I ran away from her she would run after me prancing and circling. As long as I was with her she wasn't afraid to be away from the other horses. The experience truly touched me..I was reminded of the medical creed, "Above all do no harm...". She responds to the slightest request with enthusiasm and joy. It breaks my heart when I think of what could have happened to her if you were not there to take her in. I'm sharing this with you because what I experienced today means everything to me. That connection is what I live for. Thank you for my time with her."

Update - February 2011

"Today, I watched Lady move around in the larger arena. She doesn't like to leave my side but she trotted around the perimeter and Glenda and I admired her 'dreamy' trot. It's like she's dancing on clouds...so graceful and floaty. I'm going to video her moving on the straightaway. She's such a lovely mover! I took her on the trail afterwards with my horse, Page. When we trotted up a hill, Lady bucked and kicked out a little. That's the first time she's done that...definitely a sign that she's feeling pretty good in her body!"
