Blame Rome (Click here for Past Performances)
Blame Rome is a four year old filly by Roman Dancer out of the mare Noruega and can trace her roots through her grandfather
Polish Numbers to Danzig and then Northern Dancer. Blame Rome is just shy of 16.2 hands. She is a beautiful bay color with dapples.
She has a lovely blaze and 3 white socks and a great sized body and will fill out beautifully. Blame Rome had 16 starts and earned
approximately 20K racing almost
exclusively at Los Alamitos. This is a direct track to adoption placement by our friend and trainer Dominic Fama who once
again called us because he felt the horse was not suited for competitive racing. When pressured in racing, Rome would
develop breathing problems due to the stress and Dominic felt she would be much happier off track
and would prefer that she go into a second career where her kind heart and athletic ability could be appreciated.
Thus we connected Blame Rome with Kathy from Ramona, CA. Kathy was interested in Wendythethief but Wendy has some
rehab time ahead of her. Because Rome was ready to go as is she has been adopted straight from the track and
will be living at Kathy's small ranch in the San Diego area. Normally
we do not adopt straight from the track but Rome is otherwise sound and Kathy is not a novice. She had her last
off track TB for 11 years. We discussed future racing and here's what Kathy had to say "I rescued my last
OTTB from another buyer that wanted to race him in Mexico. During the 11 years that I owned him,
I only let him run all the way out one time, and it took me close to 1/4 mile to get him stopped again!" Kathy will
be doing mostly trail riding but difficult 4 - 5 hour rides and thus Rome will enjoy the great outdoors with her new
found best friend and stay fit and happy. Our Southern California Director Nicole Rawnsley arranged the entire transaction and is looking
forward to visiting with Kathy and Rome in the near future. We look forward to updates and photos.
Update: April 2010
Blame Rome was adopted last year by Kathy and moved to the San Diego area.
Unfortunately, Romey suffered a severe pasture leg injury and has now returned to Kimberlee Farms to be
rehabbed by Nicole & Kim. Kathy tearfully left her baby with us but knows she is in excellent hands. Thank you Dr. Stevens and Conejo Veterinary
Hospital for all you are doing to help Rome recover. Last photo shows Blame Rome at Kimberlee Farms with Kathy.
