Grey Misty

This very classy gray/roan gelding was born in 2001 is by Smoke Glacken out of a Falls Church mare.  Grey Misty can trace his female line back to the great Secretariat and on his male side to Mr. Prospector.

Grey Misty raced primarily in the southern California circuit and later in his career at Emerald Downs in Washington.  He is a seasoned performer having had 41 starts and winning over 210K in lifetime earnings.

After Emerald Downs closed for the season 2008 his owner decided not to bring him back again for another year of racing and his trainer asked us to find a suitable placement for him.  Misty enjoys the cooler climate of Washington, the trees and lush green pastures and as luck would have it he will stay there and join our other gray/roan rescue gelding Full Blooded Irish at the farm of Tabatha and her daughter Kelsey near the Canadian border.  As Tabatha owns a tack shop named "The Horsey Shop" both Irish and Misty will never lack for stylish accessories!

Thank you Tabatha and Kelsey for taking in this very kind gentleman.  After giving him some months of well earned rest Tabatha will start to transition him from a race horse into a new career possibly in dressage.

Footnote: Unfortunately, even with the best of intentions sometimes things do not work out the way we wish they could or should. Tabatha lost her tack shop and her home in the economic downturn. Although Neigh Savers has a no questions asked return policy in our adoption contract, Tabatha did not contact us and in fact, we tried to find her for a time and could not. Ultimately she sold all of her horses on Craigslist. Another rescue in Washington is taking legal action since they also had a contract as Misty was at a Washington track. Since the adoptions of both Grey Misty and Full Blooded Irish Neigh Savers no longer considers out of state applicants for horse adoptions due to tracking and logistics.
